Weinreich Weissburgunder Chard

Weingut Weinreich is located in the Wonnegau district of Rheinhessen, Germany. Often dubbed “Land of a Thousand Hills”, Rheinhessen is Germany’s largest wine region. Situated on the left bank of the Rhein river and surrounded by protective hills and forests, the region is shielded from harsh weather and enjoys a mild, growing season.

With a Wonnegau address and a name like Weinreich (literal translation: “rich with wine”), your choice is pretty clear: dedicate your life to viniculture. And so, brothers Marc and Jan Weinreich took over their parents’ winery in 2009. Organic farming and trust in traditional winemaking techniques, creates wines with a unique sense of place.

The majority of their 47 acres of vineyards is planted to Riesling (duh!), though Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, as well as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Munier for their Sekt production are important too. Weinreich’s wines range from classic, high acid, mineral driven whites, to skin-fermented Riesling in amphore.
