The spectacular El Pandillo in Jesus Maria is the result of one man's vision to create a better tequila distillery while retaining the soul of this special spirit. One of Mexico's most innovative and dynamic tequila production facilities with countless technological and ecological innovations make it one of the Jalisco's greenest and most efficient. Yet, Felipe Camarena has done all this without compromising tradition or quality and in many cases has used innovation to create a more authentic expression of agave than ever before. The custom built stone ovens capture the deep complex flavors of the highland Blue Weber aged 8-10 years and selected for peak maturity. The agave is crushed on Felipe's mechanical tahona "Frankenstein," fermented with native yeast originally propagated by Felipe's grandfather 80 years ago and distilled on small copper pots. There are few spirits more perfect than this. What sets Terralta apart from Felipe's other excellent offerings is the use of a deep water well. The complex mineral content of the water drawn from 450 feet under the bedrock adds a textural complexity that is rarely achieved in agave spirits. It is these deliberate choices made by one of tequila's most thoughtful and respected masters that make Terralta one of the world's greatest tequilas. The reposado spends 8 months in #1 light toast new American oak barrels. The light color belie the rich complexity of this unprecedented offering. Easily one of the best reposados available.
