Scott Schultz, the brainchild behind Jolie Lade wines, had made the journey all over the wine world before starting Jolie Lade. With stints as wine director for Thomas Keller’s Bouchon, and former assistant winemaker for Pax Wines, this formulated the plan for his future winemaking endeavors. Jolie Lade is a loose term for Pretty-Ugly, a French term that lends itself well to the unconventionally beautiful styles of Scott Schultz. He takes classic French varieties, many of them uncommon in the states, and raises them to be beautiful wines. Scott is a one-man operation (of both hands and feet) and does it well.

Wildly different from the rest of the lineup, this wine is pure fun and in their words “irreverent.” The fruit comes from an eclectic array of sites across California made from alot of their favorite French reds. Add that it’s made in the carbonic fashion (think Beaujolais!) and named ‘glou’ (meaning glug,) just enjoy it immediately!
